I'd like to talk today about the talks that have been going on between President Obama and President Medvedev of Russia. Now, these talks are somewhat a bright side to an otherwise dreary presidency (so far, at least). President Obama stated that he wishes to promote a peaceful and prosperous Russia, and his meetings with the President there to "reset" the relationship between our two countries. Although some may think otherwise, I believe that this was a very good move on President Obama's part, and I think that it is a wonderful idea to strengthen our ties with Russia, and have a beneficial partnership with Russia, who could be a strong ally in the fight against radicalism, and a great country to share markets with. However, the meeting obviously did not go without disagreements, but the two Presidents seemed to be confident in the overall conclusion to the meetings. The only thing I must disagree with both leaders on is the reduction of nuclear warheads. The START treaty expires in December, and in order to continue the policy of reducing nuclear weapons, the leaders decided to limit nuclear weapons further. In a time when North Korea has obtained nuclear power, and Iran is not far behind, it is unwise for any country on the UN Security Council to decrease its own nuclear power. However, these meetings have ultimately gone well, and hopefully will aid in our struggles against radicalism in the future.

Iran
Dear Friends,
Having written about the events and circumstances in North Korea, I now feel it imperative to speak about the current situation in Iran. I believe these Iranians who are protesting are trying to reach out to the Western world and, especially, America. This belief is supported by the high amount of protest signs written in English. These people have the same complaints about their government that we find threatening to our security. I believe it is advisable to promote these protesters and aid them as best we can, since it is a great opportunity to rid ourselves of a major threat, and prevent ourselves from entering another war in the future. As we can see, the focus of the War in Iraq is not a conflict against a government with troops in uniform, but a conflict against terrorist groups within the country, not the country itself. We are now trying to stop threats that aren't coming from other countries, but we have to police up those countries to avoid being attacked by groups within the country. So let's learn our lesson and aid these protesters, who are hoping for a free life without oppression, and allow these countries that may be subject to conflict in the future to straighten themselves out.

North Korea
Dear friends,
As stated before, the issue that inspired me to begin blogging was the issue of a nuclear North Korea, and a threat to Hawaii and, by extention, the entire United States. My friend, a very liberal young man, praised President Obama for his condemnation of North Korea and his stance against North Korea gaining nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, North Korea already has nuclear weapons, is speculated to be able to strike Hawaii in months, and is suspected of trading nuclear information and technology with Iran. Now, my friend insisted that if we took direct action against North Korea, we would spark anger from the international community. However, North Korea has clearly disobeyed UN Security Council restrictions and the six-party nuclear disarmament discussions, so all members of the UN should agree that responding to threats from this regime is perfectly justified. And although some may believe taking action against North Korea would endanger our standing with other nations, North Korea's strongest allies, China and Russia, have also condemned its actions. Not that we should care how Russia and China feel about us, since we have the right to defend ourselves and we shouldn't feel afraid of ANY other nation. We have already "condemned" North Korea, and now it is time to enforce our previous statements and actually DO SOMETHING before Kim Jung-il does something drastic.
Founder's Politics Introduction
Dear friends,
Today I was inspired to start a new blog concerning American and international politics. I decided to create the Founder's Politics blog, named after our founding fathers who were the masterminds behind the success of our great country. As I relate most to Thomas Jefferson of all our Presidents, I feel that my political ideology has more or less mirrored his. I was inspired to start this blog after an argument with a friend of mine over North Korea, and after I saw a post from Mike Huckabee's Facebook page, urging people like me to blog our thoughts and submit them to his website. So here I will start, discussing my opinions on the latest political actions taken in the world. I hope you all will enjoy this blog and I hope many of you will agree and disagree with me as our ever-changing world moves on.
